Kiriya [Kare First Love] |
|
Kiriya is a character in a manga called Kare First Love. He plays the main character's (a girl named Karin) love interest. Actually, I suppose I should say that she plays his love interest as he is the one continuously going after her and not the other way around. Kiriya has quite an outgoing personality, the absolute opposite of Squall, however the two of them aren't quite so different when it comes to their looks.
The most notable similarity is their hair style. They both have long bangs, and a small strand of hair that falls just before each of their ears. Aswell as this, both of them have relatively thin eyebrows, and a similar face shape. Both with thick upper eyelids, and thin lower eyelids, they're eyes have a strange likeness to each others aswell. |
InuYasha [InuYasha] |
|
Although their appearances are far from alike, Squall and InuYasha share some similar personality traits. Upon first glance, both of these individuals appear stoic and cold-hearted. Those who get to know them begin to understand that beneath each of their outer "shells" lurks a caring and emotional person. Somehow, though reluctant to do so, they always end up playing the hero.
Both Squall and InuYasha have felt deeply betrayed in the past and both are fairly independant. Each of them is very strong in combat and is continuously working hard to become stronger. Squall and InuYasha both have loyal companions to support them although they are, at first, reluctant to socialise with others. In the beginning, neither of them gets along very well with their newfound love interests (Rinoa or Kagome), however they soon find that they will do anything to protect them. Also, they both wield some kind of blade. The biggest difference between Squall and InuYasha is their appearance and background. InuYasha is a half-demon with long silver hair and yellow eyes while Squall is a human with a more typical appearance. Also, InuYasha is louder and more outspoken than Squall, who is more of an introvert. |
Paine [Final Fantasy X-2] |
|
Paine is one of the main characters in Square-Enix's Final Fanatsy X-2, the first FF sequel to ever have been released. Aswell as having similar bangs and a consistent cold expression, she and Squall share a similar taste in clothing. When choosing attire, they are both more than fond of the colour black. They also seem to like leather, aswell as boots & gloves. You may also notice several belts and buckles on both of them, and they both sport a long silver necklace with a fair sized pendant on the end. Aswell as that, they both use some kind of sword or blade.
When it comes to personality, Paine and Squall also have some similar features. They are both cold, and distant. Neither of them smiles very much, and they both have a somewhat un-caring attitude (though Squall simply chooses to care for no-one whereas Paine cares about her friends). It is also said that Paine was originally based off of Squall. |
Lulu [Final Fantasy X] |
|
Lulu, making her debut in the ever so popular Final Fantasy X, is another character who's attire matches Squall's quite well. Lulu prefer's to wear black, or a very dark grey colour, which match her black hair nicely. She has long heavy bangs on one side of her face, which have a likeness of Squall's own hair style. Aswell as all this, they both seem to like belts; Squall is a little more subtle about it, whereas Lulu's lower front dress consists entirely of them. Both of their collars are quite furry, and are a whitish colour, though Lulu wears hers below her shoulders and Squall wears his up by his neck.
They also have some similar personality traits. Both of them are cold, somewhat distant and they are both quite taciturn aswell, though Lulu is not as extreme as Squall. Another pointless fact I noticed is that they have both lost someone they loved in the past, and seem to dwell on it. |
Cloud Strife [Final Fantasy VII] |
|
Cloud played the Hero in Square-Enix's hit RPG Final Fantasy VII. He was fairly quiet, and somewhat of a loner. He kept to himself, and didn't express his feelings very well. And who else can you think of with these exact traits? Why Squall of course. Though Cloud is a little bit more open with people, they are both considered to be un-caring, and cold-hearted. Neither of them smiles particularly often. Yet each of them manages to find himself by the end of the game. Random fact; Each of them uses some kind of sword or blade. Random fact 2; They both appear in Square-Enix's Kingdom Hearts.
Another thing you may notice is the similarities in their names. The first name represents something to do with the weather; Cloud = a cloud in the sky, and Squall = a type of storm. Their last names can both be read as something you can be or cause; Strife = a struggle, fight, or quarrel and [Leonhart, which we can read as] Lionheart = to be very brave or courageous. |
Shadow [Sonic Series] |
|
Shadow first appeared in Sega Dreamcast's Sonic Adventure 2, and though he isn't a human, he and Squall have some familiar features in the way they act. Shadow is very much a loner, and though you may be forced to believe otherwise when playing Sonic Heroes, he is not a team player either. He doesn't talk much, and likes to stay to himself. Aswell as having some of the same body language [crossed arms, head tilted off to the side, etc.], all of these traits describe Squall perfectly. And, just like Squall, he stays focused on his mission. Another interesting detail is that neither of them can remember their past. Squall's use of the GF causes him to forget, whereas Shadow takes a fall in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, and becomes amnestic.
The only major difference between the two of them is that Shadow is on the dark side, but Squall is a hero. And of course we can't forget that Shadow is not human, while Squall is. |
