「 Chapter 01 」 Each and every journey needs to start somewhere. Whether it be the couch in your living room or the foot of mount everest, there must be a starting point and a finishing point. For what is not begun can not be completed, and in this particular case, completion was vital. It is commonly believed that Link was around ten years old when his journey began. Living all his life in the sedated and secluded forests of Hyrule, amongst the Kokiri children, all the time believing that he was one of them.. Or maybe not. He may have wondered about that. He may have noticed that every year, as he seemed to get older, his comrades seemed to remain the same. He may have wondered why a fairy had not yet come to him. You see, Kokiri children were suposed to have fairies, and they were not suposed to grow old. On that fateful day, ten year old Link was to be found fast asleep in his treehouse. It was on that fateful day that his journey was to begin. "Link! Hey, get up Link!" came the diminutive voice of Navi, a messenger fairy sent by the Great Deku Tree. After having aquired a sword and shield (the items required for entrance into the Great Deku's meadow), brave young Link made his way towards the renowned forest guardian. "..The time has come to test thine courage. I have been cursed. I need you to dispel the curse with your wisdom and courage. Art thou prepared?" And Link fulfilled the Great Deku's wishes, defeating the evil that had hidden within the poor old tree. As the Great Deku had expected, Link had broken the curse, however his journey had only begun. Regardless of Link's efforts, the Forest Guardian drifted into a state of eternal slumber, leaving the boy with his few last words, "A wicked man of the desert cast this dreadful curse on me...Thou must never allow that man to lay his hands on the sacred Triforce...The future depends upon thee, Link. Thou art courageous." And so began the journey of the boy without a fairy. And so was the legend created.
